Joyful, social, and completely unpretentious. Ceilidh brings people together through lively Scottish and Irish folk dances called out by a live band — no experience needed, just the willingness to laugh and move.
About the Style
Ceilidh (pronounced "KAY-lee") is a Scottish and Irish folk dance tradition centered on caller-led group dances — no experience needed, because the caller walks you through every step before the music starts. It's community dancing at its best: inclusive, joyful, and designed to get everyone on the floor regardless of skill level.
At DFW Social Dance Studio, we bring the Ceilidh tradition to DFW — teaching the core figures, formations, and etiquette that make these group dances work. From simple circle dances to progressive longway sets, Ceilidh is one of the most social experiences you can have on a dance floor.
Ceilidh is unlike almost every other dance style we teach. The dance unfolds communally, with the caller guiding the room through each figure together. It's one of the most fun and least intimidating dance experiences available — and it works for any age, any background, any skill level.
