Waltz is the oldest of the ballroom dances, tracing its origins to the turning folk dances of Germany and Austria in the 18th century. Danced in 3/4 time with a characteristic rise and fall through the body, it became the first truly modern partner dance — and sparked a revolution in how people moved together on the dance floor.

At DFW Social Dance Studio, we teach American-style Waltz — flowing, romantic, and grounded in the same natural movements you'd use to walk across a room. The three-beat rhythm creates a beautiful swaying quality that makes Waltz one of the most aesthetically pleasing dances to both do and watch.
